The Power Core is a generating station built into the shaft. It produces more power than every surviving blueprint says it should, and more than the rest of the mapped Rift appears to use.
# Environment
Amber light floods the sector from a central power bus thicker than the carrier is wide. Conduits branch off it into the walls and run both up and down the shaft. The Frozen Reactor’s missing output may end up here. The C-9’s coupler current rises sharply on these floors, enough to power systems that would normally go dark.
Asterion’s analysts believe the Core is a node of a legacy control bus that once carried commands through the whole shaft. If the Rift has a nervous system, this is one of its ganglia.
# Machines
Fast and heavy units arrive together: Runners alongside Tanks, with Commanders co-ordinating them more tightly than anywhere above.
# Guardian
The Overlord is a command platform linked to the core’s legacy control bus. It calls in new defence faster than any other guardian.
# Pilot notes
Kill Commanders on sight. The extra reactor headroom is a good moment to run a drone bay alongside a full set of turrets.
